The original concept behind the founding of MTG Marinetechnik was born in 1966 from the German Federal Ministry of Defence’s desire to bring together the strategic knowledge surrounding the whole concept of naval ships at a point away from production sites. The aim was to create a center of expertise for maritime concerns in order to identify and develop optimum solutions, away from the economic pressure of production utilization levels.

From the very start, the company was designed as an independent and self-sufficient system house. For this reason MTG Marinetechnik soon took on tasks, not only for the German Navy, but also for other navies and industrial companies.

Today MTG Marinetechnik employs more than 50 experts from the fields of shipbuilding and marine engineering, electrical engineering, weapons technology and communications engineering, physics, information technology, and ergonomics as well as specialists in integrating aircraft and amphibian vehicles. Realistic, goal-oriented solutions are developed in interdisciplinary teams for many varied assignments.

Based on extensive experience in planning and designing naval ships, MTG Marinetechnik has optimized and further developed the planning process with a focus on a harmonic cooperation between the individual departments while including the customer. Our approach is to follow a logical, flexible, and iterative sequence of development steps. We start with requirements management, continue on to the development of ship designs, the cost estimate, simulation, and the final evaluation. Then we develop alternative solution possibilities and ship designs based on the results. The project management team can make well-founded and reduced-risk decisions on the basis of our final evaluation.
